It was a disappointing start for Japan at the opening day of the Wimbledon Championships on Monday as up-and-coming Japanese teenage tennis star Kei Nishikori was forced to retire from the first round with an abdominal injury and Rika Fujiwara was defeated 6-1, 4-6, 3-6 by Ukrainian Kateryna Bondarenko in the Ladies Singles tournament.
